20 January 2007
On 20 January 2007 The Times of Trenton reported:
Mellow music maker and 60s icon Donovan is making appearances with film director David Lynch to help promote the use of Transcendental Meditation (TM) in schools throughout the United States.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
The article quoted Mr Lynch as saying, 'Donovan inspired me and millions of others of my generation to meditate and find real happiness in the ocean of creativity and intelligence that lies within everyone. The David Lynch Foundation is honoured to have Donovan's support for our efforts to bring stress-reducing meditation to students in the United States and around the world.'
Lynch and Donovan are currently touring together to raise awareness and support for teaching TM in schools.
Donovan was quoted by the Times of Trenton as saying, 'My own music, presented with TM alongside, can help bring us back to our own true selves, naturally and effortlessly, with the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.'
Speaking about his favorite reading material, Donovan said that his most prized possession from very early on has been Maharishi's 'Science of Being and Art of Living', and that TM has 'guided his life' from his discovery of the book to this day.
According to the article, Donovan still feels that TM is the most profound of all the different kinds of meditation. 'It's as if you were a deep-sea diver with lead boots on. . . . You dive immediately and deeper than ever.
He also feels that the expansion of media exposure has allowed a 'spiritual synchronity' of sorts, including the renewed interest in Maharishi and Transcendental Meditation, the popularity of alternative medicine, and other approaches, to rise in public awareness.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
