by Lisa Rossi

22 December 2006
On 22 December 2006 Des Moines Register reported:
Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa USA is leading other schools of higher learning throughout Iowa in the use of 'green' technology. The university is setting an example with its plan to reduce energy costs and create its own non-conventional energy sources, which is referred to as going 'off the grid'.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
The Des Moines Register quoted the university's Director of the Institute for Maharishi Vedic Architecture Jonathan Lipman, as saying, 'I think we are on the forefront in Iowa. There is, to my knowledge, no other university attempt to build a classroom off the grid.'
By creating its own power source with solar, wind, and geothermal methods, a new building project on the Maharishi University of Management campus—the Sustainable Living Center for sustainable living and environmental studies—will be the model for other universities on how to be energy self-sufficient.
The Des Moines Register quoted the university's David Fisher who is the Director of the Sustainable Living degree programme as saying, 'That's one of the purposes of the building to set an example, to be a model building, to demonstrate what's possible.'
The building project has a May start date.
The article also noted that the $7.2 million Argiro Student Center was another energy-efficient project already underway on the university campus, and three student residence buildings are also in the plans.
This article highlights the leadership role Maharishi University of Management enjoys, as the university stands at the forefront of the latest technology to promote sustainable living in harmony with the environment.
It is very significant that this wonderful project is receiving press coverage at this time, when 1,800 yogic flyers including Vedic pandits from India have assembled at M.U.M. for the Invincible America assembly, to create a massive effect on world consciousness, awakening higher values of life, life in accord with all the laws of nature. To read more about how the assembly is positively affecting all aspects of American life, please see invincibleamerica.org.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
