Course on exploring creative arts heads to L.A. in June
The Review Translate This Article
14 December 2006
Concerts, plays, movie studios, art galleries, and nature will be the venues for an upcoming course on creative arts in Los Angeles to be held in June.
During this Rotating University course, titled 'Exploring the Creative Arts in the Light of Consciousness: Celebrating Creative Intelligence,' students will interact with leaders in the creative and entertainment arts such as David Lynch and will enjoy musical and theatrical performances, sites of natural beauty, and private tours of movie studios and world-class art galleries.
In addition, students will gain a rare, inside look into the creative process from well-known, critically acclaimed professionals in the arts.
Through workshops, seminars and discussions, students will share insights with these leaders in screen and television acting, writing, directing and producing; and other areas of the creative arts.
Students will savor some of the many cultural delights of Los Angeles, including private tours of the spectacular Getty Art Museum, which sits high on a cliff overlooking the area, and of the Getty Italian Villa, which houses classical art. They will also take a private tour of a world-famous movie production studio, and enjoy inspiring musicals, theater, and dance performances.
The course will be held in Block 10, June 4-28. It is also open to those who aren't full-time students at Maharishi University of Management. The course can be taken as a 10-14 day tour of Los Angeles starting June 12. Anyone who enjoys creative arts is encouraged to enroll, including recent high school graduates, students attending other colleges, and art lovers of all ages.
For full-time students the first week of the course in Fairfield will lay the groundwork for an appreciation of the creative arts in the light of Maharishi Vedic Science(SM). During the final week on campus they will make presentations or give performances based on what they have learned and experienced during the trip to Los Angeles.
The specific course activities are in the planning stage. More details about the course, including costs, the course leaders, and potential financial aid to cover the course expenses, will be available from Admissions in February.
