On 10 June 2006 Bridge Health.com reported:
A study presented at the First Global Integrative Medicine Conference in North America, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada found that adolescent practitioners of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique experienced a variety of benefits.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
Five girls and five boys from a charter school in Detroit were chosen at random—from among those in the student body who has learned the TM Technique—to participate in the study. All ten participants were African American and in the seventh-grade.
The students had already been instructed in the TM Technique during the previous school year, and had been meditating at school twice each day for ten minutes.
According to the article, the study looked at the effects of TM on adolescent students' 'sense of self, relationships, and behaviours'.
The article reported that interviews with the students 'revealed that students attributed many [positive] effects and benefits to the daily practice of meditation. The study found that the students' academic performance improved, and they also gained 'increased self-reflection, self-control, [and] emotional flexibility'.
The study concluded that 'the state of restful alertness induced by meditation appears central to facilitating growth in social-emotional capacities. It appears to regulate the emotional labiality, increase positive states, and broaden the social cognitive capacities required for accelerated academic achievement.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
