12 June 2006
On 12 June 2006 WCVB-TV Boston reported:
Boston, Massachusetts, USA television reports on the benefits Michigan students have gained from Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique, and how the technique is gaining acceptance in Massachusetts.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
WCVB-TV Boston reported that there is a proposal to bring the TM technique to Massachusetts schools because studies show that the meditation technique can help school children reducing their levels of stress, and help manage attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) without drugs.
Reporter Heather Unruh highlighted a Detroit, Michigan middle school as having positive results with those students who practise the TM technique.
'It keeps me stress free. It helps me concentrate better in class. If I miss a day of meditation, I lose concentration easier,' one student said.
Unruh reported a study conducted over a period of nine years by the University of Michigan showed that students who practised TM 'were happier, managed stress better, and fought less with their peers.'
In Massachusetts, 15 practitioners of Transcendental Meditation and 15 people not practising the technique participated in a study conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital. Researcher examined brain scans of both groups and found that the practice of the TM Technique 'increased the thickness of the cortex in areas of the brain dealing with attention and sensory processing', Unruh reported.
On the basis of these and other positive results, 'Roxbury Charter High and several other schools in Massachusetts are considering incorporating the TM Technique into the school day', Unruh reported.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
