On 9 March 2006 WorldNetDaily.com reported:
Filmmaker David Lynch, a practitioner of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme for over 30 years, is now working to make the TM Technique available to students everywhere as part of a global initiative to create peace in the world.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
Mr Lynch explains that students can help create world peace by practising the Transcendental Meditation Technique together in groups. Mr Lynch is quoted as saying that initially he would like to see '10,000 students practising Transcendental Meditation in the US to create a wave of peace in America that will be a catalyst for peace in the world'.
His goals also include plans to create seven universities of peace, with 8,000 students or more enrolled at each one, enlivening peace and harmony in their environment simply by, in Mr Lynch's words, 'knowing how to dive within, enliven the unity within themselves, and know themselves', through their collective practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
The article reports that the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Technique have been verified by 'extensive published scientific research'. Studies show that the 'practice of the TM Technique optimizes brain functioning, improves academic performance, increases IQ, improves health, and reduces stress, anxiety, and depression'.
Across the US, some schools are already offering Transcendental Meditation to their students. The article cites as examples a public charter school in Detroit, Michigan, called 'Nataki Talibah Schoolhouse' (K-8); a private school for children with ADHD in Silver Spring, Maryland, called 'Chelsea School' (K-8); public secondary schools in Augusta, Georgia, that participated in a study utilizing the TM Technique 'to reduce blood pressure in African-American teens'; and a highly successful private school in Fairfield, Iowa, called 'Maharishi School' that has included the Transcendental Meditation Programme in its curriculum for all students (K-12) for the past 20 years.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
