School students win three national photography awards
The M.U.M. Review Translate This Article
24 November 2005
Maharishi Upper School photography students came away with three national awards at the 2005 Association of Texas Photography Teachers National Fall Photography Contest late last month in Arlington, Texas.
Over 50 schools from Texas, Iowa, Missouri, and Indiana entered images into the contest, and five judges viewed over 3,000 prints—the largest number of entries in the contest's history.
'This contest is such a great opportunity for the high school photography students,' says Carolyn Waksman, Maharishi Upper School photography teacher. 'The contest nourishes and educates the students in learning about photography.'
There were 320 students that came away as winners in 36 categories. Maharishi School winners included:
* Ella Hall, grade 11—third place in Beginning B/W Portrait
* Camille Morehead, grade 10—honorable mention in Beginning Color Still Life
* David Boyle, grade 10—honorable mention in Beginning Color Nature.
