On 12 August 2005 Reuters reported:
Motivated by a burning desire for world peace, acclaimed director David Lynch is launching a foundation to allow the stress-reducing benefits of Transcendental Meditation to be readily available in schools across the US and ultimately the world. In an interview with Reuters, Lynch describes his goal.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
Mr Lynch said that the foundation of $7 billion he wishes to create would stay in a bank account and the interest earned would be sufficient to keep the programme running on a permanent basis.
Mr Lynch has been practising TM for over 30 years, and has been impressed by schools he has visited that have adopted TM in their curriculum. He has seen the benefits of the programme at schools in Maryland, Iowa, and South Africa, where students meditate at school twice a day.
'I am starting this foundation to ensure that every child in America who wants to meditate can learn. You can say I'm full of baloney, but you meet students who get this opportunity and they shine like you cannot believe,' Mr Lynch said.
The David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace will fund Transcendental Meditation programmes and scientific research on the improved academic performance, health, and psychology of students using the technique.
According to Mr Lynch, 'This is a way to bring real peace to earth. Real peace isn't just the absence of war. It is the absence of negativity.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
