Film director David Lynch authors article in magazine
by Jim Karpen
The Review, Vol. 19, #16 Translate This Article
Fairfield, Iowa, United States
14 May 2004
David Lynch, renowned film director and University Trustee, continues to bring the world's attention to Maharishi's knowledge, recently writing an article about consciousness, the Unified Field, and the Transcendental Meditation technique for the May issue of Jane magazine, a publication which has a circulation of 2.5 million and which is oriented toward young women aged 16-28.
The May issue is a special celebrity issue, and Mr. Lynch's one-page article appears in the 'Celeb Spiritual Report' department.
Titled 'One Significant Day in My Life,' the article begins by saying that a significant day in Mr. Lynch's life was the day he learned his body is made of consciousness.
In the article he uses a light, conversational style to introduce the knowledge of consciousness, the Unified Field, Veda and Vedic Literature, higher states of consciousness, and enlightenment.
He then explains that the Unified Field can be experienced at the source of thought and that the Transcendental Meditation technique can be used to experience 'that unbounded ocean of pure bliss, pure consciousness, the Unified Field, our Self.'
He concludes by mentioning the scientific research and saying that ultimately the most significant event in his life is the experience of the Unified Field, 'because it unfolds what we truly are -- totality.'
The biographical sketch at the end of the article says that Mr. Lynch is 'looking forward to Creating World Peace Day, to be held mid-September at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.' It then gives the address of the University's website.
Jane magazine became interested in having Mr. Lynch write an article as a result of a press conference held in New York City that Mr. Lynch participated in.
Mr. Lynch is a graduate of the Enlightenment Conference and a practitioner of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs. Most recently he has been devoting his life to world peace through Maharishi's programs.
