by Jessica Bloom

2 March 2017
On 3 March 2017 Format Magazine reported: Bob Roth, executive director of the David Lynch Foundation, used the example of filmmaker David Lynch, the organization's founder, to explain that with Transcendental Meditation, you don't have to suffer for your art. ''TM gives you more focus, more energy, more edge to do what you want to do, to be true to yourself.'' It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of culture.

Roth explained the process of learning TM from a certified teacher, how he first became interested in learning the technique in the 1970s, and how TM enhances creativity: ''Every one of us has a level of our mind right now deep within us that's already calm and settled and peaceful and wide awake, and it's said to be the source of our unlimited creativity. So Transcendental Meditation is a simple technique to access that reservoir of creativity that lies within.''
Interviewer Jessica Bloom asked, ''Artists and athletes talk about 'being in the zone.' The moment where you forget that you're even working but something great happens—is the feeling you're describing?''
''As a result of meditating over time, 20 minutes twice a day,'' Roth said, ''your whole life becomes the zone—not just those rare moments when you're with a paintbrush or piano.'' He also said that with TM, artists ''just feel more themselves. . . . more powerful, more expressive.'
