In a recent interview Dr Craig Pearson* discussed his newest book, The Supreme Awakening: Experiences of Enlightenment Through Time—and How You Can Cultivate Them.
The Supreme Awakening brings together a remarkable collection of transcendent experiences reported by people through the ages, and shows that they are experiences of higher states of consciousness—experiences of enlightenment. These experiences come from philosophers, scientists, poets, artists, saints, athletes, political leaders, actors, and more—people from a wide variety of times and cultures, describing experiences that rank among the most inspiring in all of literature.
The book shows how Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's model of seven states of consciousness allows us to understand and categorize these experiences of extraordinary wakefulness, freedom, and bliss.
The Supreme Awakening also shows how ordinary men and women today are enjoying the same kinds of sublime experiences celebrated by Laozi, the Buddha, Plato, Rūmi, St. Teresa of Avila, Wordsworth, Emerson, Thoreau, Emily Dickinson, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Einstein, and many others—simply by practicing the effortless technique of Transcendental Meditation.
Finally, the book shows the immense, scientifically-validated benefits of cultivating enlightenment—in every area of life, for the individual and for our world.
We see that these experiences, rare though they have been until now, are universal—they are everyone's birthright—and they have the power to transform the individual and our world.
Global Good News will continue reporting on the recent interview with Dr Craig Pearson about The Supreme Awakening.
