Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management in Iowa, USA, often tours the country and the world, meeting with leaders in government and education and presenting the university's uniquely effective Consciousness-Based system of education, as well as news, achievements, and scientific research on the Transcendental Meditation programme worldwide.
Dr Morris also often meets with practitioners of Transcendental Meditation in each location. On a visit to the New York area this year, he toured the beautiful and dignified new Transcendental Meditation (TM) centre in New York City, noting that it is just 100 yards from Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange.
In a recent report Dr Morris described visiting another Transcendental Meditation centre, on Long Island, where he enjoyed meeting an elderly woman who has been practising TM since the 1970s. The woman just celebrated her 99th birthday and has been enjoying her meditation all these years, and a happy, fulfilling life. A few months ago she began to watch videotapes at the centre, of historic lectures by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Founder of the worldwide Transcendental Meditation organization.
Halfway through the first lecture, she commented, 'He is so clear. . . . and as an artist, I love the way he paints a picture of what he says with the movement of his hands.'
Over the next month, she watched six hours of Maharishi's lectures on higher stages of human development through the Transcendental Meditation programme, taking notes and leading to many profound discussions with others at the centre.
Others commented on published scientific research showing younger biological age and increased longevity in the elderly, in people practising Transcendental Meditation.
