The David Lynch Foundation launched the First Responders Initiative to bring relief to police, firefighters, and other emergency 'first responders' suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), through the stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation programme.
The David Lynch Foundation was founded in 2005 to help implement scientifically proven stress-reducing modalities, including Transcendental Meditation, for 'at-risk' populations including inner-city students and those suffering from PTSD such as veterans and their families.
Scientific research has shown that regular Transcendental Meditation practice increases creativity and IQ and improves learning ability among students, decreases anxiety and depression, reduces drug and alcohol abuse, and improves memory. The meditation technique has also been found to increase resilience and dramatically reduce PTSD symptoms in combat veterans and military cadets, as well as in African war refugees.
This evening's live benefit concert webcast begins at 8:00pm US Eastern Time. It will be streamed live around the world 'from our rooftop to your laptop'—via online concert venue StageIt.com. This means that from anywhere in the world fans can log on and enjoy the concert. All proceeds will benefit the David Lynch Foundation.
