29 September 2013
The fifth annual ''Change Begins Within'' benefit evening to support the David Lynch Foundation's outreach to veterans and other at-risk populations is garnering the support of prominent practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation® technique, including actor Hugh Jackman and his wife, actress Deborra-Lee Furness, famed broadcast journalist Barbara Walters, and legendary comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
The December 3 red carpet event will be held in New York City at the Conrad Hotel and will raise funds to teach the Transcendental Meditation technique to 1,000 veterans and first-responders in the New York City tri-state area.
New York City Fire Department Commissioner Salvatore Cassano, a four-year Transcendental Meditation practitioner, will receive the DLF's ''Lifetime of Service Award.''
''It's deeply satisfying to see so many well-known and highly respected people, who themselves meditate, step forward to help make Transcendental Meditation available to those in the world family who are in dire need,'' said Bob Roth, executive director of the Foundation.
Other supporters include former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, CNN anchor Candy Crowley, TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz, comedian/actor Russell Brand, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, and many more.
The David Lynch Foundation was established in 2005 to fund the Transcendental Meditation program for at-risk populations.
