In a newly released special presentation entitled 'Science, Consciousness, Veda, and the Self: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Gift of Knowledge to the World', one of the distinguished speakers, Dr Ramani Ayer, honoured Maharishi as one of the greatest sages that ever lived.

The presentation was taped at an event earlier this year during the New Paradigm Tour of North America. The tour presented pioneering research revealing the Veda and the Vedic epic Ramayana as blueprints of the body and of the entire universe.

The tour's speakers, including Dr Ayer, also discussed scientifically proven practical applications of Vedic technologies of consciousness, brought to light by Maharishi, to defuse acute societal stress, prevent violence and social conflict, and create harmony and integration in world consciousness.

Dr Ayer is an esteemed member of the business community and a philanthropist who is committed to furthering the possibility for permanent peace in the world.

Dr Ayer has his MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from Drexel University and was the first Indo-American CEO of a Fortune 500 company, serving as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Hartford Financial Services Group for 13 years. Under his direction, the company's North American operations grew to be the eighth largest in the United States.

He is also a board member of Maharishi University of Management and the David Lynch Foundation.

Dr Ayer spoke to a mainly Indo-American audience of nearly 1,000 at the Meadows Club near Chicago, Illinois.

'I want to begin by really paying my respects to Maharishi, who in my estimation was a sage unmatched in our lifetime,' Dr Ayer said. 'Maharishi really had and embraced a bold vision and he was truly established in Being. . . . His love for the world family was thoroughly inclusive; he really at all times saw the world as one, never separated people from one country or one background or one religion, always saw it as one world family. He worked tirelessly from the time he left India to try to find a way to bring the fruits of Vedanta* to benefit all of mankind.'

In addition, Dr Ayer said, Maharishi believed we could use the eternal Vedic wisdom to bring peace to the world.

'It was Maharishi's great vision, great cognition, great translation of Vedanta that actually creates the possibility . . . to create, on a sustainable basis, a prospect for peace and prosperity for all of mankind,' Dr Ayer concluded.

Global Good News will continue to report on Dr Ayer's address.

* In the Appendix to his translation and commentary on chapters 1-6 of the Bhagavad Gita, Maharishi explains, 'Vedanta means end of the Veda, final knowledge of the Veda. . . . The main purpose of Vedanta is to educate man in the truth that complete knowledge of life is no other than life itself as it is lived naturally on the level of Being' (the transcendental field of existence, the absolute reality of life).
