US: Business leader Ramani Ayer featured on New Paradigm tour

Ramani Ayer, the first Fortune 100 CEO of Indian descent in the United States,* was a featured speaker on the 'New Paradigm' tour of North America this spring.

The 10-city tour—A New Paradigm: Veda, Consciousness, the Ramayana, and the Self—was designed to bring out pioneering research by Tony Nader, MD, PhD, revealing the Veda and Ramayana as 'blueprints of the body and the entire universe'—a discovery with the potential both to enrich the lives of individuals and create world peace, according to tour materials.

Mr Ayer recently gave his perspective on the tour as a highly respected and honoured businessman of Indian heritage. He spoke of the lectures given by Dr Nader, author of the new book, Ramayan in Human Physiology: Discovery of the Eternal Reality of the Ramayan in the Structure and Function of Human Physiology.

According to Mr Ayer, Dr Nader spoke about 'a real, direct presence of Ramayana in the physiology' as he brought out exact, substantial correlations between individual characters, events, and locations in the story and specific aspects of physiological structure and function.

'For members of the Indian community, their jaws just dropped because they had heard a lot about this, but never understood it in the way that Dr Nader explained it to them. It was extremely powerful and profound in its effect,' said Mr Ayer.

He also summarized his experiences speaking at some of the events on the New Paradigm tour, where his topic was ''Enlightened Leadership and World Peace''. He spoke mainly of the work of one of the great sages from India, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Mr Ayer talked of Maharishi's focus on training large numbers of Vedic Pandits in the Vedic technologies of peace: chanting the Vedic literature in Sanskrit to produce a powerful influence of peace and harmony in the environment—an important practical application of the knowledge of Veda in human physiology.

Mr Ayer remarked, 'In the situations where I was called to comment, I really had the great opportunity to present Maharishi's vision for global peace, and pointed out to the people that Maharishi was a sage with an enormous vision—a bold vision which included all of humanity in one family and always thought along those lines.'

* Mr Ayer was Chairman of the Board and CEO of The Hartford Financial Services Group for 13 years, retiring in 2009.
