28 April 2011
The Creative Musical Arts Program at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA is organizing a network of professional musicians and music educators who practice the Transcendental Meditation program.
The purpose of the new association—the International Association of Meditating Musicians (IAMM)—is for sharing experiences and information regarding Consciousness-Based approaches to performing, creating, and teaching music in today's global environment.
For the inauguration of IAMM, all professional musicians who practice Transcendental Meditation are invited to come to Fairfield during the weekend of May 13-15, to honor Paul Horn, the legendary ''Father of World Music'' and long-time teacher of Transcendental Meditation.
During the weekend, a symposium on Music and Consciousness will be held for the MUM community and visitors.
Speakers at the symposium will include Paul Horn and his wife, singer-poet Ann Mortifee; Eugene Watts, founding member of the Canadian Brass; and Ed Sarath, Director of the Creativity and Consciousness Studies Program at the University of Michigan.

Isabelle Matzkin, director of the Creative Musical Arts Program at MUM, says, 'We are hoping to connect with the professional meditating musicians in every area, to invite them to join in this initiative.' She encourages everyone to spread the word about the formation of the new association. For more information, email: music@mum.edu
Ms Matzkin also notes that there are no obligations or dues involved with membership in IAMM.
