MUM Women's Institute highlights leading women in traditional cultures
Global Mother Divine Organization - USA Translate This Article
12 January 2011
The Foundation for Total Knowledge Based Education of the Global Mother Divine Organization–USA (GMDO-USA), in collaboration with the women students, administrators, and faculty of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, established the MUM Women's Institute during the past year to offer programmes and events geared toward women.
The Institute has sponsored three events, which highlighted a woman author who has photographed and written a book on 30 indigenous women who are outstanding leaders in the Yucatan; a sacred Hula dancer/wisdom keeper of traditional Hawaiian culture; and a conference featuring indigenous women leaders from around the world.
GMDO-USA hosted members of The International Council of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers in Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, USA on four occasions during the past year. These special guests enjoyed the opportunity to learn the Transcendental Meditation Technique during their visits, and returned to their tribes with profound appreciation for the programmes offered by the Global Mother Divine Organization.* This has resulted in ongoing outreach to the women and girls of their tribes.
In conjunction with the MUM Women's Institute, the GMDO Foundation for Total Knowledge Based Culture held a major conference during the first week of October. The three-day conference featured members of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers (with members from Nepal, Tibet, Mexico, the United States, and Canada) as honoured guests and speakers; and also included 30 other prominent indigenous women from the US, Canada, Hawaii, and New Zealand. More than 400 women attended the conference. A video of the conference will soon be available on the GMDO-USA website: www.gmdousa.org.
These programmes were featured in a presentation of GMDO–USA's achievements of the past year, along with new initiatives and plans for 2011, during the Global Mother Divine Organization's international 12 January celebrations in MERU, Holland.

* The Global Mother Divine Organization was founded in December 2007 as the women's wing of the Global Country of World Peace, currently active in 86 countries and rapidly expanding to include 192 countries of the world. In the ancient Vedic tradition of India, the expression 'Mother Divine' refers to the universal, all-nourishing qualities of nature—bliss, intelligence, creativity, harmony—that promote life in the direction of peace and progress.
