David Lynch, renowned film director, long time practitioner of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and founder of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace, was recently invited to guest-edit an issue of Wallpaper, a magazine dedicated to the arts and interior design, architecture, and media.
Dr Lynch was asked to include what he would like to see in the publication. In the centre of the magazine, he presented the knowledge of unity of life from the most current theories of quantum physics, as well as symbols and explanations of unity from the world's spiritual traditions. The text drew on the knowledge of the Unified Field of Natural Law in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Vedic Science and technologies of consciousness, including the direct experience of this infinite, universal field through Transcendental Meditation.
Please see Part I of this article.
Dr Lynch showed the mathematical equations and formulae for the Unified Field of Natural Law at the basis of the process of symmetry-breaking, from which the discipline of physics emerges—the study of the fundamental forces and particles of nature that underlie nuclear and atomic physics, chemistry, astronomy, and the biological sciences.
He also gave his own definition of unity: 'Infinite, eternal Unity is found at the base of all matter and mind. This field is known by many names, among them the Unified Field, Kingdom of Heaven, Constitution of the Universe, Being, the Transcendent,* ocean of bliss consciousness, Atma, the Self, Brahm, Totality, self-referral consciousness, the Absolute, the Dao, Sat-chit-ananda (truth consciousness bliss), the Samhita (togetherness) of Rishi, Devata, and Chandas (knower, process of knowing, and object of knowledge), the Source, Oneness, Creative Intelligence, Home of Total Knowledge, Home of all the Laws of Nature.'
'Transcendental Meditation underpins what I do, but it serves the work rather than dictates it,' Dr Lynch said in the magazine article. 'The point is that everyone has consciousness, but not the same amount. It strikes me as rather absurd to go through life with the same level of consciousness you came in with, when there is a technique to expand it, and that technique is easy, effortless, and supremely profound.'
* The silent, unbounded field of pure, Transcendental Consciousness at the basis of all the activity of the mind. Regular practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique allows the direct experience of Transcendental Consciousness in a systematic, repeatable way, while simultaneously bringing deep rest and release of stress to the body. Scientific research over the last 40 years has shown the profound value of this experience and documented its immediate and cumulative benefits over time.
