Plans are moving ahead for the David Lynch Foundation's second annual 'Change Begins Within' benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, 13 December 2010.
The event will include appearances and presentations by a number of celebrities in support of the David Lynch Foundation's programmes to help at-risk groups—including military veterans suffering from PTSD, homeless people, children in inner-city schools, and American Indians.
Presenters include acclaimed film actor and director Clint Eastwood, who will focus on the profound benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme for alleviating PTSD in military veterans. In addition to appearing at the main event, Mr Eastwood will host a press conference for military leaders and decision makers the afternoon of the previous day.
Another prominent celebrity speaker is Dr Mehmet Oz, who will discuss the impacts of stress on the individual, how Transcendental Meditation can alleviate it, and why he personally enjoys his practice of TM.
Others appearing at the benefit include Katy Perry, Russell Brand, Donna Karan, and Russell Simmons; and Dr John Hagelin, President of the David Lynch Foundation and renowned quantum physicist, who will describe the theoretical basis for Transcendental Meditation and its transformative value.
By purchasing tickets to the event, all guests will be offered the opportunity to learn Transcendental Meditation themselves, and experience first-hand its beneficial effects, which have transformed the lives of thousands of people around the world through the generous help of the foundation.
'The event aims not only to inspire support for the David Lynch Foundation,' said Dr Mario Orsatti, National Director of Communication for the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the US, 'but to instill a broader awareness among guests of how Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique can benefit every individual, solve the most pressing problems of society, and transform the educational system.'
