New Zealand: Programmes for Maori women a highlight of Global Mother Divine Organization initiatives
Global Mother Divine Organization Translate This Article
2 September 2010
The Global Mother Divine Organization* reported on achievements in New Zealand on the final day of the recent Third International GMDO Congress in MERU, Holland.
2010 is the second year since the organization's incorporation in New Zealand. It has been very active, offering seven GMDO one-day courses, as well as monthly full moon celebrations for ladies. In addition, a ladies' spa in Auckland currently offers abhyangas—a special type of massage used in Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care programmes.
A major initiative in the nation this year is a project for indigenous Maori people, led by Mere Austin, Co-Director of GMDO–Aotearoa New Zealand. Dr Austin is also a Justice of the Peace and recipient of the Queen of England's Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit award for her services to Maori people.
As Director of the Total Knowledge Based Culture Foundation of the Global Mother Divine Organization in New Zealand, she has spoken with many influential Maori women about the value of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and all of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes in creating an ideal society.
There are also many influential Maori women who are inspired by the Global Alliance of the Revered Indigenous Mothers, a worldwide initiative of the Global Mother Divine Organization which was also featured during the Third International Congress in Holland. They were invited to join the Indigenous Mothers Council in New Zealand during its inauguration on 18 July.
Dr Austin is now beginning the process to officially register the International Foundation of Consciousness-Based Education in the country, so that Kohanga Reo and Kura Kaupapa (Maori Language Schools) can begin to instruct families, students, and teachers in the Transcendental Meditation Technique.
Global Good News will continue to feature GMDO delegates' reports about their countries, as well as other presentations during the Third International Congress in Holland.
* 'Mother Divine' refers to the nourishing, evolutionary power of Natural Law lively within all of creation and within the silent consciousness of everyone. The Global Mother Divine Organization, established in December 2007, is the ladies' wing of the Global Country of World Peace in 192 countries.
