An article about 'Transcendentalism', recently published in a widely read ladies' magazine in Holland, included the author's recommendation that for anyone who wants to 'transcend'—experience the rich source of wisdom and intelligence deep within the mind—the Transcendental Meditation Technique is the means to do so.
Speaking on Maharishi Global Family Chat,* Dr Paul Gelderloos, National Director of Holland for the Global Country of World Peace, said that the magazine attracts more than one million readers, mainly women but also some men.
According to Dr Gelderloos, the author defined 'Transcendentalism' as a state of being in contact with one's soul, or a type of profound intuition. The author emphasized that each person has a rich source of wisdom and intelligence within, and that it is only a question of contacting that intelligence. In explaining this concept, she referred to the 18th-century German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who hypothesized that there must exist a 'Transcendentalist' foundation for all empirical or rational knowledge. She also quoted the American thinker Ralph Waldo Emerson as saying that one must locate beauty within oneself before venturing to find it in the outside world.
The author connected the concept of 'Transcendentalism' with the practice of Transcendental Meditation,** which she said brings happiness to many people throughout the world. She mentioned several celebrities who practise or have practised the technique, including the Beatles and the Canadian singer Celine Dion. The author noted that a major centre for Transcendental Meditation is located in Holland.***
'This article was a wonderful surprise,' said Dr Gelderloos, 'and presents an enormous opportunity to bring the knowledge of Transcendental Meditation and the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to the readership of the magazine.'
* Dr Gelderloos's report was featured on the 29 January 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
** The Transcendental Meditation Technique allows the conscious thinking mind to settle down and experience its own underlying field of infinite silence, Transcendental Consciousness, which is also the Unified Field of total Natural Law at the basis of the material universe.
*** The International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace is located in MERU, Holland.
