Through the World Federation of Traditional Kings, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has offered traditional peoples the knowledge and programmes to support their own unique culture for life in health, progress, and peace.
Traditional Rulers from the Amazon recently visited the International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in MERU, Holland, and expressed their deep appreciation for this knowledge and their commitment to sharing it.
Dr Christopher Crowell, Minister of Religion and Culture of the Global Country of World Peace, hosted Traditional Leaders from the Amazon and gave a beautiful overview of the World Federation of Traditional Kings, before inviting the leaders to speak.*
Maharishi honoured Traditional Leaders for their parental role of administration, which he said reflects the way that Nature cares for everything as a loving, compassionate parent, Dr Crowell said.
'This value of love and appreciation between the traditional ruler and his people, which is found in all of the hereditary and traditional cultures, reflects the unity . . . at the basis of Nature—the Unified Field of Natural Law, which maintains all of creation in perfect harmony on path of evolution.' This theme of unity upholding diversity is key for the blossoming of diverse cultures in their uniqueness.
'Maharishi . . . explained that because the Traditional Rulers have been the custodians of Natural Law and because their administration reflected the organizing power of Natural Law and the cosmic intelligence of Nature for their people, they were expressing the Will of God and were blessing their people with progress, peace, and prosperity. . . .
'The Traditional Ruler, Maharishi explained, is like the all-nourishing sun which brings the light of life to the whole world,' Dr Crowell said.
'Maharishi appreciated very, very much this theme of Nature's administration and he created an organization, the World Federation of Traditional Kings, to honour the Traditional Leaders and to bring them support and fulfilment in their role . . . which is really going to bring about, with Maharishi's gift of Total Knowledge, the blossoming of every culture in every land.'
Members of the World Federation of Traditional Kings are found in 30 countries of the world. A wide range of Traditional Rulers responded from every continent: Australia, Bolivia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Tanzania, Trinidad, United States, Venezuela, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. 'And the numbers are rising all the time,' Dr Crowell said.
There are more than 300 members, and although they are known by various titles, Maharishi honoured them with the name Traditional King, 'because he wanted them to be on that highest level of recognition in our world family—that their administration is precious, it is sovereign and supreme for their people,' said Dr Crowell.
They represent a wide range of cultures, traditions, and languages, but together, they gain the strength and support of a world organization to fulfil their parental role.
In the coming days, Global Good News will feature the continuation of Dr Crowell's address, as well as talks by the Traditional Leaders who visited MERU.
* A replay of the beautiful welcome ceremony, broadcast live via Internet on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3, on 24 July may be viewed in the Maharishi Global Family Chat archive.
