During a tour this year in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, visited Ukraine and Georgia.
In Ukraine, he spent a full day in Kiev, the capital city, speaking with educators and school officials about Consciousness-Based Education, an essential element of the educational programme at Maharishi University of Management, and its central component, Transcendental Meditation.
Dr Morris also met with people who are working to make the Transcendental Meditation programme more accessible to everyone who would benefit from the stress-reducing technique.
Dr Morris met with a prominent business leader who feels that Transcendental Meditation has contributed substantially to his success in life and wants to help others learn the technique, especially those in high-stress environments such as prisons and the military.
Another business leader is planning to expand the number of Transcendental Meditation centres in the country. He would like to see about 35 centres all across Ukraine so that anyone who wants to learn Transcendental Meditation will not have to travel far to do so.
Dr Morris met with other businesspeople, a professor, and a medical doctor, all of whom want to bring Transcendental Meditation to more people in their country.
Next he traveled to Georgia, where the Centre teaching the Transcendental Meditation programme was established with the generous support of the David Lynch Foundation.
He spoke to educators, and also to teachers and practitioners of Transcendental Meditation. He also went to speak at Tbilisi State University, the oldest university in the Caucasus region. The event was organized by a student at the university who was inspired by an earlier talk given by Dr Morris and wanted her fellow students to hear it. 'The young people in the audience were very open and enthusiastic' to learn more about Consciousness-Based Education, he said.
