Sustainability symposium July 5-8 to focus on ''deep green business''
Maharishi University of Management - The Review Translate This Article
20 June 2012
The Department of Business Administration at Maharishi University of Management is hosting a free summer symposium July 5-8 to explore the topic of ''deep green business'' and the role of expansion of consciousness to ensure sustainability and create heaven on earth.
The symposium will feature experts from MUM and its home city of Fairfield, Iowa, USA, as well as from the UK and China. The premise is that there must be a transformation of consciousness in order to truly ''embed'' sustainability in companies and in society.
Topics will include how this transformation can take place, the mechanics of change, how businesses and communities are facilitating this transformation, and the results of such a transformation.
The keynote speaker will be futurist, book author, and TV producer Hazel Henderson, a pioneer in the field of ecologically sustainable human development and socially responsible business and investment. She will present on ethical markets and receive a Maharishi Award.
Professor Yu Qiwu, from Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing, will present on the ''Study on the Mechanism and Benefits of Promoting Green Consumption in Beijing.''
Other topics that will be covered include green marketing, green manufacturing, lean management and sustainability, sustainability circles, financing sustainability, and investing in the sustainability sector.
''We hope members of the community will join us as we explore the role of consciousness in creating sustainable business and a sustainable world,'' said organizer Vicki Herriott.
The symposium will be held in the new Sustainable Living Center. For information, see http://deepgreensymposium.weebly.com. Email questions to mgt@mum.edu.
