Maharishi's programmes in Italy: Implementing Transcendental Meditation in businesses and schools

Presenting recently as part of the extended global celebration Guru Purnima 2009, Raja Mariano Facipieri, Raja of Invincible Italy for the Global Country of World Peace, summarized the major achievements in his domain during the past year.

Materials have been prepared for presenting the Transcendental Meditation Programme to businesses in Italy. And, thanks to the National Director of Education and several Transcendental Meditation Teachers, a company of 200 employees in northeastern Italy has introduced the technique among 10 of its top managers. The company implemented the programme as part of a scientific research study on the effects of Transcendental Meditation; the 10 employees who learned at the company will be compared to a control group of 10 non-meditating subjects.

'This is the first scientific study on the effects of Transcendental Meditation ever performed in Italy,' said Raja Mariano. 'It will provide a more powerful example of TM's benefits [for people in Italy] than experiments completed in other countries.' The research, he added, is being done as part of the PhD thesis of a student at Venice University.

A process has been established through which schools can apply for funds to implement Consciousness-Based Education. So far, a school of 400 students in Sicily has applied.

During the past year, the number of people learning Transcendental Meditation doubled from the previous year. Also, many people took courses to learn TM Advanced Techniques and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme during a nationwide tour.

Five people from Italy will participate in an upcoming Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course, which will further contribute to the rise of invincibility in Italy, inspiring more people to learn and practise the programme. Finally, a new Maharishi Invincibility Centre opened in Naples during the past year, offering Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and other programmes.

Raja Mariano concluded his presentation by stating the goals of the organizations in Italy for the following year. 'We hope to complete the acquisition of land in Rome and begin construction [for the Maharishi Tower of Invincibility and other projects, described in Part I]. Also, we hope to continue and expand the initiatives already underway in Italy, so that the country may be blessed with Heaven on Earth.'
