UK: Moving into perfect Vastu - a dream fulfilled

10 September 2013
Maharishi Garden Village* in Rendlesham, Suffolk, England, welcomed four new residents this summer, marking the completion of the residential development in Garden Square and Gardenia Close.
First to move in, on 3 June, were Graham Scriven and Lynne Sowerby from Dorset, now the proud owners of an upper floor two storey maisonette. In mid-July, Peter Malekin, a Transcendental Meditation teacher of long standing, became their neighbour in the ground floor maisonette below; and just a few days later Jane Wadams, also from Dorset, moved into the second of the upper floor maisonettes.
Graham and Lynne report that occupying their new perfect Vastu home came as the fulfilment of a dream that began many months earlier when they stood on the last available plot which at that time was allocated for a five-bedroom house.
''The house that suited us best both financially and in size,'' says Graham, ''was the three-bedroom maisonette, but the only one planned already had a prospective buyer. As we stood surveying the sole remaining plot, John Renwick [MSV Homes Director and Maharishi Sthapatya Veda Consultant] arrived. He at once agreed that a second maisonette opposite the first would make a very dignified entrance to Gardenia Close—the road leading to the Maharishi Peace Palace—and was in fact already under consideration. Within a few days the revised planning permission had been granted and our vision began to become a reality.
''Our moving in celebration was a joyful occasion blessed by glorious sunshine, and the presence of many of our enlightened neighbours helped to create the most blissful atmosphere. We led the way into our new home to 'wows' of approval from everyone, especially in appreciation for the light and spacious feel of the rooms provided by the window layout and open plan design. Our experience of living in Vastu was very well begun.
''Since taking up residence, one of the most noticeable effects of living in Vastu is the quality of silence and happiness that seems to pervade the building—once guests sit down and relax in our lounge, nobody wants to get up again! Each room seems ideally suited to its designated function. . . . And, the fortune-creating effect of Vastu seemed to commence even before we moved in—I had been given a promotion at work one week earlier.
''One of our chief reasons for joining the community was to be close to the Maharishi Peace Palace and have the opportunity to take courses and join group [practice of the advanced] Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme. Now that construction of the Peace Palace will soon be realised, we feel especially fortunate to have been able to buy one of the last homes in the first phase of the residential development.''
