Today, 20 October, marked a highly significant milestone in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programme to create permanent world peace.

Today the inaugural daily performance of Ati Rudrabhhishek—a special Vedic performance for world peace—was conducted by 1,331 Maharishi Vedic Pandits in residence at the Global Capital of World Peace in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India. The performances will continue every day throughout the coming year.

Earlier this year, on 11 February, a one-time performance of Ati Rudrabhhishek by 1,331 Vedic Pandits took place at the Global Capital.

Today's event, however, was recognized by everyone involved as 'historic'—inaugurating a new era in which, for the first time in many years, the special Vedic procedure will now be performed every day. This will make it possible to awaken a sustained and powerful effect of peace in world consciousness, from the deepest level of nature's intelligence.

In the last several millennia, this Ati Rudrabhishek has been achieved on a regular basis only once, in the late 1980s, a period when the cover headline of The Economist magazine declared 'Oh what a Peaceful World' (July 1988)—and when people all over the world were astounded by dramatic events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall, and by the dangerous enmity between the superpowers being transformed to friendliness.

Today's inaugural performance was introduced by Dr Girish Varma, Director-General of the Global Capital at the centre of India. Addressing the large assembly of Vedic Pandits, dignitaries, and international guests, Dr Varma expressed the resolution (Sankalp) for the performance—to establish an unshakable, permanent state of global peace, happiness, affluence, and freedom from suffering—using the ancient Sanskrit phrases of a well-known aphorism from the Vedic literature:

Sarve bhavantu sukhinah
Sarve santu niramayah
Sarve bhadrani pashyantu ma kaschid duhkha bhagbhavet

(Translation:
May everyone enjoy happiness
May everyone be free from disease
May everyone behold that which is auspicious
May suffering belong to no one.)

At the conclusion of the performance, Professor Tony Nader, MD, PhD, honoured by Maharishi with the title Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam and given responsibility for guiding the activities of the Global Country of World Peace,* said, 'This is a great, momentous time for the whole world, the beginning of a performance which enlivens total Natural Law on a grand level for all humanity.'

Ati Rudrabhishek and other Vedic technologies of consciousness, known as Maharishi Yagyas, are precise Vedic performances to create specific life-supporting influences for individuals and nations.

Vedic recitation and performances, which are derived from the timeless tradition of Vedic wisdom, have been declared by UNESCO as 'an intangible heritage of humanity'.

These procedures have been restored to their complete effectiveness by Maharishi, and his establishment of the peace-creating group of Vedic Pandits at the Global Capital has been hailed as one of the crowning achievements of his 50 years lifelong work to create enlightenment for individuals and invincible, permanent peace for every nation.

Daily performance of these technologies by large groups of Pandits at the Brahmasthan and in other locations forms a central element in Maharishi's programme to create world peace.

The Maharishi Vedic Pandits have been specially trained over many years under Maharishi's direction, and are experts in employing his Vedic technologies to enliven a powerful influence of coherence, harmony, and peace in collective consciousness. They accomplish this from the field of pure consciousness, the unified field of total Natural Law at the foundation of the universe—a field of infinite peace. This universal field is enlivened in the Pandits' consciousness and brain physiology through their daily practice of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying.

The group of Pandits at the Brahmasthan has been performing Rudrabhishek every day for several years. The number has been steadily increasing, and there are now enough Pandits to make it possible to perform Ati Rudrabhishek, the most powerful level, requiring 1,331 Pandits.

Also before today's performance began, six 'noble families' in India, Southeast Asia, Canada, and the United States were honoured for their leadership in Maharishi's global peace initiatives. Their very generous, timely support has made it possible to begin and sustain these daily performances of Ati Rudrabhishek by 1,331 Maharishi Vedic Pandits at the Brahmasthan for the coming year.

In January 2008 Maharishi established the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan, as well as the Brahmanand Saraswati Foundation to secure permanent peace and invincibility for the world by perpetually supporting groups of Maharishi Vedic Pandits there, throughout India, and around the world. He emphasized the great importance of daily performance of Ati Rudrabhishek by the Pandits at the Brahmasthan to create a positive, peaceful transformation in world consciousness.

Dr Varma and other organizers of Maharishi's programmes in India, with support from well-wishers of peace and humanity around the world, are working with great dedication to build up the group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits at the Brahmasthan to 16,000, with smaller groups of Pandits at 48 other centres throughout India, as well as establishing groups in many countries.

* The Global Country of World Peace was founded by Maharishi as a consortium of educational organizations in more than 100 countries working to create a new era of peace, progress and prosperity in the world family. The Global Country of World Peace is described as a 'nation without borders' promoting unity consciousness and the reduction of the narrow nationalism that divides humanity from humanity. It is a home for peace-loving people everywhere.
