School students win highest awards at State Science Fair

The Excellence In Action page of Global Good News is featuring this news about several students from Fairfield, Iowa, who excelled in recent state-level science competitions. Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment senior Bimba Shrestha with his Fairfield High School partner Doga Ozesmi were the Grand Honorary Champions of the Iowa State Science Fair in Ames on March 26-27. The two also won 1st place in Computer Science, the INTEL Excellence in Computer Science Award, the Mu Alpha Theta Innovation Award, and they qualified for an expense-paid trip to the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair this year in Pittsburgh. INTEL ISEF is the world's largest international pre-college science competition.
Joining them in Pittsburgh will be 8th grader Pranav Chhalliyil, who also won the 2015 Iowa State Fair Grand Champion award, for the Junior Division. In addition to the Grand Champion award Pranav placed first in the Microbiology division in the 8th grade, overall championship in the Microbiology division, Broadcom championship, and the special Discovery in Science Award.

Maharishi School Head Dr. Richard Beall said, 'Doga Ozesmi and Bimba Shrestha, winning the state science fair together, as students from Fairfield High School and MSAE respectively, is a first, and something the whole community can be proud of.'
