First Latin American solar-powered car race held in Chile

On 29 September 2011 The Santiago/Atacama Times reported: The twenty-ninth of September marked the beginning of the three-day Atacama Solar Challenge, the first international solar car race in Latin America. The nearly 660-mile race will have three legs, beginning on Friday in Humberstone, in the Tarapacá region in the far north, before racing through Antofagasta and Calama, and finishing on Sunday near the starting point in the coastal city of Iquique.
