On 29 September 2011 The Santiago/Atacama Times reported: The twenty-ninth of September marked the beginning of the three-day Atacama Solar Challenge, the first international solar car race in Latin America. The nearly 660-mile race will have three legs, beginning on Friday in Humberstone, in the Tarapac√° region in the far north, before racing through Antofagasta and Calama, and finishing on Sunday near the starting point in the coastal city of Iquique.
