Suicides in Kansas rose 45 percent over the past 17 years, far outpacing the nation as a whole, according to a new federal report that said Kansas had one of the largest increases. The suicide rate in Kansas increased 45 percent between 1999 and 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday. The overall U.S. rate increased 25.4 percent over that same time.
