Police horses drawn to water on the streets of Alice Springs

On 24 July 2014 ABC.net.aub reported: A new public water trough in Alice Springs has been purpose built for local police horses. Senior Constable Dean Elliott, from the Mounted Police Unit, says it's much needed addition. Senior Constable Elliott says it's a unique feature given few small Australian towns have a Mounted Police Unit. Constable John O'Brien says these days they are used to patrol the streets, and are an important part of community engagement.
