SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) - Fifteen months after Bosnia's last election, the country finally has a new prime minister.

In December, the parties that had won the top six places in a national election in 2010 agreed on how to divvy up the prime minister's position and the Cabinet posts.

On Thursday, Parliament voted 36-2, with 3 abstentions, to approve Vjekoslav Bevanda - a Bosnian Croat and former regional finance minister, as prime minister.

He now has until the end of January to appoint a Cabinet according to December's deal.

Power in Bosnia is shared by Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats who rotate key government positions, and their delays have left this poor country without a budget.

Bevanda said his priorities will be Bosnia's financial stability and winning it EU membership.
