During a recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Dr Ashley Deans, Executive Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, attended an educational fair sponsored by a large oil company.
The company has built a beautiful oasis in the middle of its desert setting to serve as the campus for a school system attended by many students, which offers classes through the 8th grade. As the school does not provide high school education, when students reach the 9th grade level the company helps them attend a private school of their choice. To assist parents and students in choosing a school, the company organizes a fair featuring many schools.
Dr Deans, who also serves as Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education, presented this approach, which is the foundation of the Maharishi School curriculum, to parents and school representatives as another potential choice for students. His presentation included a review of scientific research demonstrating the success of Consciousness-Based Education in improving students' brain functioning, decreasing stress, increasing academic achievements, and developing their full creative potential.
In a recent report on his tour in the Middle East, Dr Deans also noted that Maharishi School in the USA has a successful boarding programme for students 14-18 years of age. Students from all over the world participate in this programme.
