Third-year Maharishi University of Management student Donna Jones recently won the Top Mediator of the Tournament Award at a regional mediation competition among university students held in Dubuque, Iowa, USA. In addition, the three-member team of Ms. Jones, Neerja Maheshwari, and Ma Jie earned third place in the mediation category.
The students were in a course on mediation and negotiation taught by Vicki Alexander Herriott in October.
The entire class attended the 4th Annual World Mediation Congress in Des Moines, Iowa, sponsored by the International Academy for Dispute Resolution. The speakers at the two-day Congress were practicing lawyers from around the U.S. sharing their experiences with arbitration, mediation, and collaborative law in the areas of family law, elder law, workers' compensation, and other areas of civil law.

Global Good News comment:
From the Overview of degree programmes offered by the department of Business Administration at Maharishi University of Management, on the department's home page on www.mum.edu:
'All of these programs are taught as Consciousness-Based ManagementSM, which is the knowledge of the total intelligence of nature and its organizing power. The founder of our university, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, was a great sage, scientist and educator from India. In his revitalization of the knowledge of consciousness from the ancient Vedic tradition, he showed that natural law automatically manages the infinitely complex and evolving universe without strain and without mistakes.
'By studying the theoretical and practical aspects of Consciousness-Based Management, including the Transcendental Meditation program, students personally grow in better health, clearer thinking, greater creativity, moral development, and wisdom. They integrate the study of contemporary developments in the discipline of business with the practice of the Transcendental Meditation program and their experience of the source of the infinite organizing power of natural law, which is available to any person in the most settled state of one's awareness.'
