Latin America: Students create rising national invincibility, inspiring progress in education

The number of Yogic Flyers required to create invincibility in Latin America was reached in mid-July, 2008. This was accomplished by the combined numbers of students and teachers practising the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, in 158 schools and universities in 19 countries.

There are currently 61,000 students practising Transcendental Meditation; 14,000 practising Yogic Flying; as well as 2,000 teachers participating.

'This has created a basis for Consciousness-Based Education in Latin America, and has given rise to a number of inspiring events,' said Raja Jose Luis Alvarez, Raja (Administrator) of Latin America for the Global Country of World Peace, in his recent summary of the achievements in Latin America for 2008.

For example, in the area of education: 100 new schools in Ecuador applied for the Consciousness-Based Education programme after a report of its success to the Congress of Educators of Latin America by schools that had already implemented the programme. Some of these schools had been awarded the title, 'Best Educational High Quality Schools in Latin America'.

Governments started to acknowledge the success of the schools that had implemented Consciousness-Based Education. For example, the official government publication of Peru had a full-page article on why Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme is a new key to create leadership in the students.

Raja Luis said that another level of recognition came when not just one school applied for the Consciousness-Based Education programme, but whole school districts in two to three countries. They would apply for all the schools of the districts at the same time—and sometimes this involved 10,000-20,000 students in a large number of schools.

Raja Luis added that the whole system of education in some Latin American countries has started to aspire for this knowledge.
