Transcendental Meditation is 'a great tool for anyone to have', says film director Clint Eastwood, who has been practising the technique himself for nearly half his life.
'I'm a great supporter of Transcendental Meditation. I've been using it for almost 40 years now,' said Eastwood at the David Lynch Foundation's Second Annual 'Change Begins Within' Benefit Gala in New York City on 13 December.
Mr Eastwood addressed the event from California via video conference.
Stress is part of many professions, he said, but it is especially severe for those going into or returning from military combat. Transcendental Meditation is 'a tool for stress.'
There is enough scientific research on the programme to show that it is effective and is 'something that can benefit everybody'.
'It's a great system to use for life in general,' Mr Eastwood commented. 'Otherwise why would I have done it all these years?'
Mr Eastwood congratulated the David Lynch Foundation and everyone at the benefit—particularly WWII fighter pilot Jerry Yellin and US Army Colonel Brian Rees*—for their work to make this programme available to those who need it most.
