2 December 2009
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - The robust growth of the economy in July-September indicated it could expand at around 7 percent in 2009/10, a top policy adviser said on Tuesday.
Asia's third-largest economy grew a better-than-expected 7.9 percent in the fiscal second quarter after expanding 6.1 percent in the June quarter, data on Monday showed.
'The latest numbers do indicate that industry and services are growing very strongly,' C. Rangarajan, chairman of the prime minister's Economic Advisory Council, told reporters.
'This could go to offset to a very large extent the impact of the decline in agricultural production.'
